Post details: Summertime in the City of Light...

Summertime in the City of Light...

Here are some shots of the time Mietsie and I spent in Paris on one of our side jaunts. During the four days we spent in Paris, the weather was great, and there was life everywhere. Truly one of my most memorable times in this timeless city...

Mietsie, in full tourist mode, trying to find our way through.

Here I am, visibly thrilled at the fact that McDonalds truly is everywhere, USA! USA! =)

Mietsie, window shopping at the various music and antique stores down the street from our hotel.

Yours truly, loose on the streets of Paris... Mon dieu!

Just going through one of our bratty childish episodes, nothing to worry about...

Hey, how often do you see a dirty Paris pigeon taking a bath at an overflowing water cistern?? Exactly.

Us at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower, waiting in line...

Me, struggling up the first flight of stairs up the Eiffel Tower.

Can't... go... any... further....

One of the stunning views from the first level of the Eiffel Tower

Mietsie basking in the glory of the mighty Eiffel Tower... =)

So we walk by a souvenir stand and Mietsie hands me this Eiffel Towerrette, and instructs me to pose. Hey, I just do what I'm told.

Mietsie and the Tower...

Me and the tower

Me, walking close by Centre Pompidou

A pretty merry-looking Mietsie

Mietsie hanging out at a local cafe

Jardins des Tuileries, humongous park by Champs Elysees

Yeah, it's us again!

The Seine River as seen from the Eiffel Tower

More of the amazing Paris cityscape

Mietsie, mocking our very own Statue of Liberty, a gift from the French in case you didn't know that.

More of Paris from the Tower

Mietsie, doing the climb

Mietsie on the ferris wheel at Jardin des Tuileries

Me, hanging out by a river marina just off the Seine.

A streetside 'Caporeira' jam by a bunch of Brazilians, who presumably live in Paris. Who knew?

Our visit to Pere Lachaise, the world famous cemetery...

Sarah Bernhardt's grave

Do we look just a little too excited to be in a place full of dead people?

Chopin's grave

Mietsie, still having a bit too much fun in a place full of dead people...

I appear to be well-equipped for grave searching....

Edith Piaf's grave

This is the grave of Modigliani, one of Mietsie's favorite artists.

Me, at Jim Morrison's grave. A long awaited pilgrimage.

This is actually the very first grave of Pere Lachaise. Two unnamed orphan children buried in an unmarked grave in the early 1700's. A Parisian visiting the cemetery told us about it.

Me at Oscar Wilde's outlandish gravestone. Tradition has it that women are to kiss the gravestone with lots of lipstick.

A closer look at all the 'kisses'
